A senior at Brandeis University, Toby Kuperwaser is heavily involved in campus activities. He plays intramural basketball, soccer, and softball and is also a member of the fraternity Zeta Beta Tau, where he has made good friends from diverse backgrounds. His membership in Zeta Beta Tau has also introduced him to volunteer and charitable activities. Toby Kuperwaser and his fraternity brothers assist with the annual blood drive on campus and raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. For his last year at the University, he is also a member of the Brandeis University Senior Gift Committee. Toby Kuperwaser is studying History and Political Science, and he hopes to work in International Relations.

During his summer vacations, Toby Kuperwaser has developed worthwhile people skills through his employment. He has served as an ophthalmic technician for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, where he greeted incoming patients and completed medical questionnaires with them. Additionally, he administered eye tests and scans as needed, recording the results. His experience taught him how to deal with patients who are nervous or impatient, and he enjoyed talking with them and putting them at ease.

Toby Kuperwaser has also gained valuable experience during his summers at Camp Yavneh, a sleepover camp for Jewish children in Northwood, New Hampshire. He started there as a counselor, sharing responsibility for 20 or so boys between the ages of 8 and 10, the youngest children at the camp. He helped the boys prepare for their days, ensured they were eating properly and playing safely, and helped dissolve disputes while being a good role model. After two years as a counselor, during which he received several awards for excellence, he was promoted to Unit Head, co-managing boys and girls going into sixth and seventh grades. Through hard work, Toby Kuperwaser and his co-Unit Head turned the most unruly units at the camp into one of the best-behaved units.
